Catching the Stradbroke Flyer, you pass Peel Island (Teerk Roo Ra). Peel Island has a fascinating history as a quarantine station and as a leper colony. Wander through the historic Dunwich Cemetery, then walk up to the Museum. If you feel like a coffee on the way, stop at Island Fruit Barn.

At the North Stradbroke Island Historical Museum, enrich your understanding of the Quandamooka people, see a humpback whale jaw, understand the significance of the Dunwich Benevolent Asylum and explore the shared history of the people of the Island.

Revel in the works of local artists at Salt Water Murris Art Gallery and take a genuine artwork, handmade jewellery or hand printed sarong home. To catch the bus to Point Lookout or Amity Point, cross the road to the Bzus Stop and wave down the next bus.

From the last bus stop, it’s time to find lunch. If you crave a fresh seafood picnic, the Prawn Shack is a good option. Picnic looking over Frenchman’s Beach. Look out for dolphins, kangaroos or whales. After lunch, why not walk around the tracks to Cylinder Headland and swim at Cylinder Beach.
