FISHING

Beach fishing is very popular with visitors to the Island, particularly on Flinders Beach and Main Beach. The deep, clear Rainbow Channel runs just off the shore of Amity Point, making it an ideal spot for casting straight into deep water from the beach or jetty. There are also 2 public boat ramps on the Island at Amity Point and at One Mile, Dunwich to launch boats.

Rock fishing can appear ideal around the headlands of Point Lookout, but it is not advised due to powerful waves washing over rocks and tidal changes. Always keep fish, bait, and burley in sealed containers away from wildlife and bury any fish remains and unused bait below the high tide mark. Dispose of used bait bags and unwanted fishing lines in bins or take them home.
