Family Fun Day
A day trip the kids will remember.
If you are taking advantage of an early barge, don't stress about feeding the family - you can enjoy breakfast and coffee at the cafes on the barge. If you have a family of 5, taking the car over on the barge can be economic. Visit the Stradbroke Ferries website to check barge fares and book.
The Gorge Walk is a must do. So take the camera, slip slop slap and be sensible around steep cliff edges, especially with children. Everyone will enjoy Oceanic Gelati & Coffee Bar for a coffee, juice or gelati. Main Beach is patrolled and only a 5 minute walk south from the southern end of the Gorge Walk.
Amity Swimming Enclosure offers calm swimming conditions, but the small beach is not patrolled, so be careful. Kids will love a walk along the Amity Point Jetty, but adults should stay close. Dolphins often visit the jetty. Koalas are often seen in the trees in the park too, remember to look up.
The family will love Brown Lake (Bummiera). There is a playground, picnic tables, a walking trail, and calm, fresh, water tinged brown by tea tree leaves. Respect the local wildlife. The Lake is significant to Aboriginal people, and if you visit at a quiet time of day you’ll feel the spirits.
- Eat, Play, Island
- Alfred Martin Way (Trans-Island Road), North Stradbroke Island, QLD 4183
Before heading home, everyone should enjoy the view from the North Stradbroke Island Golf Club. The friendly staff serve cold drinks on the deck, and the kids always enjoy the mini golf.
