Dunwich, North Stradbroke Island

Discover the history of Goompi/Dunwich on the ‘Follow Laddie Trail’

The North Stradbroke Island Museum on Minjerribah has a new self-guided audio tour available that is a great way for children and adults to learn the history of Goompi/Dunwich. Collect your vintage-style wax-sealed interactive map, with QR codes and loads of extra information, as you embark on your adventure together on the ‘Follow Laddie Trail’.

Grab your friends and follow in the footsteps of young Laddie Agnew, the son of the former postmaster of the Dunwich Benevolent Asylum who lived on the island more than 100 years ago, on a treasure hunt of historical and dramatic discoveries around Goompi/Dunwich starting at the museum. Explore onwards around the township as you discover key landmarks and interesting and unexpected stories.

Please allow 1-1.5 hours for the Audio Trail. Visitors should have at least one smartphone with a QR reader to listen to the audio story. The trail begins at the museum and ends at a site adjacent to the beach picnic and swimming area.
